SELECTED DOG – PRINTED WORKS 2019-2024 | Gu-Tang Clan exhibition + workshops for youth

The works created by Gu-Tang can be seen all over Łódź and beyond, as he often goes on a kind of tour to other cities in Poland and abroad, where he decorates selected fragments of the urban fabric with his art.

Visually, the screen printing continue a fascination with disturbing visions of the world, inspired by literature, film and our creaking reality. The exhibition consists of all sorts of motifs reduced to square proportions. Chessboard, skull, TV, attributes of friendship, Glitch A, Glitch B are meant to make us anxious, but the visual message is also meant to serve our reflections on existential questions. Once again, Gu-tang Clan has proven that technology is not an obstacle for the contemporary artist and that he can realise graphic, illustrative and design activities regardless of department, studio or technique.

On the opening day of the exhibition, there will be a screen-printing workshop for youth and older youth. The workshops will involve printing designs by Gu-Tang and the slogan human good. Upcycled clothing will be used for the screen printing.

Bio

Gu-Tang Clan – Gustaw (Gutek, Gucio) – dog breed Owczarek Bałucki. An escapee from an animal shelter in Łódź. Raised by the streets, appreciated by the public, fed with starlings. His exact age is unknown, but certainly the beginning of his activity dates back to 2016. He gained his education and experience in his field during numerous journeys, both in the country and in Europe. The traces of his activity can be seen in every place he goes. He uses extremely different means of expression in his work – from fur to ketchup to screen printing. Privately, he is a fan of food, baths, barking at cars and Titian’s work. Favourite colour: black.
