Roosevelt | concert by German electronic music creator at Łódź Fabryczna railway station

At the Łódź of Many Cultures Festival, Roosevelt’s performance will be a perfect example of how diverse sources of inspiration, from German krautrock to modern electronica, can create a coherent and fascinating musical narrative. The concert will enliven the monumental space of the Łódź Fabryczna railway station – a place where people from different parts of the world and cultures naturally meet.

Roosevelt, or Marius Lauber, is a German producer and musician whose work skilfully combines modern sounds with the tradition of German electronic music. In Roosevelt’s work, references can be found to pioneers of the genre, such as Kraftwerk, but also to more experimental artists, such as Klaus Dinger from the group Neu!, who introduced a distinctive motorik rhythm known as the ‘motorik beat’ to electronica.

This specific, ‘endless’ rhythm, based on repetitive, hypnotic beats, has become one of the pillars of krautrock – a German genre that has had a huge influence on the development of electronic music worldwide. In his compositions, Roosevelt not only draws on this rhythmic precision, but also develops it by introducing contemporary elements of house, disco and synth-pop. His compositions often rely on pulsating rhythms, which, combined with melodic synths and warm bass lines, create a danceable yet reflective atmosphere.

Inspired by both the classic sounds of the 1970s and 1980s and the contemporary electronic scene, Roosevelt skilfully blends tradition and modernity. His music refers to the legacy of German electronica, but is also open to influences from different corners of the musical world.

He created his hit ‘Passion’ with one of the greatest musicians and producers in history – Neil Rodgers, who is known for his recordings of David Bowie, Daft Punk or Duran Duran. He has also created music for TV series (including ‘The Royals’ and ‘Insatiable’), producing remixes of songs by many well-known artists including Charlotte Gaisbourg, Taylor Swift, Selah Sue and Balthazar.

At the concert in Lodz, Roosevelt will be promoting his latest album ‘Embrace’. The music from this album is completely universal – and incredibly fitting for the world we live in, which can often seem dark and overwhelming. ‘Embrace’ offers a way to escape the gloom and doom, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in positive music. It goes far beyond mere entertainment. It gives the audience a chance to let loose and express themselves, even if only for the duration of the festival set.
