DANCE PARTY WITH THE ŁÓDŹ RETRO ORCHESTRA + BREAKFAST
Festival Centre
What is it about?
A dance morning in the style of the 1920s and 1930s. The Łódź Retro Orchestra will invite you to dance to swinging rhythms and pre-war hits. After two sets of music, participants will meet for a joint breakfast of ‘Pasta, bread and cucumbers, or vegan delicacies to start the day’, prepared by singer and actress Elina Toneva from the Chorea Theatre.
Participation in the breakfast is free of charge. Coffee, tea and sweets will also be available for purchase at Filiżana Cafe! , which will prolong the atmosphere of old dance halls – this time on a Sunday autumn morning.
By whom?
The Łódź Retro Orchestra is a band formed in 2024 on the initiative of students and graduates of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. The orchestra’s repertoire includes both well-known and beloved works by Polish composers, as well as forgotten gems of pre-war popular music. Artistic director: Antoni Bradé (vocals). Arrangements: Jan Kornacki (saxophones) and Jakub Sofiński (accordion). The line-up is completed by: Weronika Kulak (vocals), Józef Kaczorowski (trombone, vocals), Adrianna Zając (first violin), Gosia Hejduk (second violin/viola), Lidia Tomaszewska (double bass), Michał Marchelewski (guitar) and Sławomir Wojtecki (trumpet).
Who is it for?
For all generations – no age restrictions. The event will be particularly appealing to lovers of dance, retro music and community gatherings. It is also an opportunity to spend time with the family, experience the interwar atmosphere and its musical energy live.
Why is it worth it?
It is rare to be transported back to the interwar period on a Sunday morning and dance to live music. The Retro Orchestra recreates the atmosphere of old dance halls – full of energy, joy and elegance. And after the dance, a shared breakfast will be the perfect moment for conversation, exchanging impressions and celebrating community.
