Sleep is an experience that unites all people, regardless of age, language, background, or life experiences. It is a space where our memories, emotions, fears, and hopes come together. <\/p>\n\n
It is precisely around this universal experience that \u201cWhat Do You Dream About?\u201d takes shape\u2014an artistic intervention and participatory installation that invites people to engage in collective action, reflection, and creative expression.<\/p>\n\n
In the central part of the Survivors’ Park, a Being from the World of Dreams will appear\u2014a mysterious figure who seems to have come from the realm of dreams. It will be accompanied by sounds and atmospheric elements that will allow participants to immerse themselves in a world of dreams and imagination. <\/p>\n\n
Festival visitors will be invited to connect with the Being and create a new, protective layer for it\u2014a \u201cshell of dreams.\u201d Each person will be able to create a small drawing, painting, or symbol related to their own dream, memory, desire, fear, or fantasy. The resulting works will become part of a collective installation and, at the same time, symbolic protection for the Being. <\/p>\n\n
This process also applies to the changes, crises, and difficult events we encounter in life. These experiences leave their mark on us, but at the same time they give us new knowledge, experience, and strength\u2014they form another layer of our personal history. <\/p>\n\n
The sculpture will change in a similar way. Each encounter with a participant will leave a new mark and a new layer on it. Over the course of the two festival days, *Istota* will gradually transform thanks to hundreds of individual gestures, drawings, and stories. Each individual mark will become part of a larger, collective image. In this way, a shared portrait of dreams, desires, fears, and imagination will emerge\u2014a work created by the residents of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a and the guests of the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a of Many Cultures Festival. <\/p>\n\n
The project is being carried out by the Dzivne <\/strong>collective, composed of female artists from Belarus who have combined their artistic practice with social and educational work.<\/p>\n\n Ksenia Logovaia<\/strong>\u2014artist, illustrator, and designer. A graduate of the Belarusian Academy of Fine Arts in Minsk. She creates graphic art, illustrations, and social-artistic projects. In her hometown of Minsk, she ran the 6B studio and organized international open-air workshops and graphic art festivals. Since 2022, she has been living in Gda\u0144sk, where she co-founded the open creative space DzoDzo<\/strong> and the Dzivne<\/strong> collective. <\/p>\n\n Yana Kasperovich<\/strong>\u2014artist, illustrator, and ceramicist. She studied art in Vitebsk and Minsk and has worked as an illustrator and ceramic designer. She is the founder of the children\u2019s brand Vaverka Kids. Since 2023, she has been co-creating the DzoDzo and Dzivne projects in Gda\u0144sk, which focus on artistic activities that engage local communities. <\/p>\n\n This event is intended for children ages 6 and up, teenagers, and adults. No prior preparation or artistic skills are required\u2014anyone can join in the collaborative activity and leave their own mark on the emerging installation. This is an opportunity for both families and individual festival visitors who want to pause for a moment, let their imagination run wild, and experience art as a space for connecting with others. <\/p>\n\n The \u0141\u00f3d\u017a of Many Cultures Festival draws on experiences that\u2014though lived individually\u2014are shared by people regardless of their background, language, or history. Dreams are one such experience. The \u201cWhat Do You Dream About?\u201d project harnesses this universality to create a space for conversation about emotions, the need for safety, care, and community. In the Survivors’ Park\u2014a place deeply connected to memory, survival, and solidarity\u2014participants will have the opportunity to collaboratively create a work of art demonstrating that even the most personal dreams and fears can become a point of connection with others. This event combines art, imagination, and social action, encouraging the building of community through creative experience. The installation is not a finished work. Its final form will only take shape through the presence and actions of the participants. Each person leaves their own mark on it, and individual stories and gestures gradually come together to form a shared work. The project demonstrates that what is personal can become part of a communal experience. Dreams, fears, aspirations, and memories\u2014though they belong to each of us\u2014can become a language of encounter that requires neither a shared background nor a common language. <\/p>\n\n The main part of the facility is located at ground level and is accessible to all visitors.<\/p>\n\n One element of the project is a city bus that forms part of the experiential trail. Due to its design, it may be less accessible to some people with mobility impairments. <\/p>\n\n The installation makes use of contrasting lighting, sounds, and the dark, enclosed space of the bus.
