Three brothers, three ouds, and twenty years of playing together. Le Trio Joubran\u2014one of the world\u2019s most recognizable Palestinian ensembles\u2014is celebrating its anniversary with a special project titled \u201c20 Springs,\u201d in which music becomes a space for memory, connection, and transcending boundaries. <\/p>\n\n
Samir, Wissam, and Adnan Joubran come from a family in which the art of crafting and playing the oud has been passed down from generation to generation. It is the sound of this traditional Arabic stringed instrument that lies at the heart of their work. The three ouds engage in a constant dialogue\u2014sometimes subtle and almost intimate, sometimes incredibly dynamic\u2014blending Palestinian musical tradition with a contemporary compositional language. <\/p>\n\n
\u201c20 Springs\u201d is a summary of the trio\u2019s two decades of activity, but it is not a retrospective. The twenty springs of the title refer to the idea of constant rebirth\u2014each successive year treated as an opportunity to start anew. During the anniversary concert, the brothers will be accompanied by a string quartet and percussionists, giving Le Trio Joubran\u2019s well-known compositions a new, richer sound. <\/p>\n\n
The poems of Mahmoud Darwish\u2014one of the most important Palestinian poets of the 20th century\u2014are also an integral part of the project. Here, his poetry meets music, creating a story of memory, loss, belonging, and hope. <\/p>\n\n
The project premiered at the Philharmonie de Paris, where Le Trio Joubran was honored by the French Ministry of Culture with the Order of Arts and Letters for its contributions to culture. <\/p>\n\n

In 2026, the presence of Palestinian artists at the Festival also carries special significance. \u201c20 Springs\u201d does not reduce the Palestinian experience to current politics or to an image of conflict. It allows us to encounter Palestinian culture through its own artistic language\u2014music, poetry, memory, and multigenerational tradition. Mahmoud Darwish\u2019s voice and the sound of three ouds create a space where personal and collective experiences can be shared without having to simplify them into a political message. <\/p>\n\n
The title \u201c20 Springs\u201d conveys an idea that is particularly close to the Festival\u2019s heart: continuity does not necessarily mean immutability. One can preserve one\u2019s own history and identity while remaining open to encounters, change, and the creation of new languages. That is precisely why Le Trio Joubran\u2019s concert is not only a celebration of this outstanding ensemble but also a story about culture as a form of memory, continuity, and hope. <\/p>\n\n
The Concert Hall of the Gra\u017cyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music is accessible to people with disabilities. All floors are accessible by elevator, and the auditorium features specially designed seating for wheelchair users. There is a parking lot with space for 70 cars next to the building. <\/p>\n\n
